BORDERLINE

Borderline is an exhibition by Emma Priester, a Dutch artist. The works presented in this show will be a combination, made in the Netherlands, and more recent pieces Priester made during a five-month stay in Finland.

The works are true to the material, as Priester likes to create work as naturally as possible and let the material speak to her in the process. A central theme in the exhibition will be about numbers, as all of the work consists of four or more pieces that combine into a single sculpture. The research covering all of the works is that of finding out what makes one an individual, and what makes one a crowd.

The works also share a theme of entropy, the gradual decline into disorder. Both in material and in theme of the individual works, but not in presentation. They are put together still in a minimal and geometrical way, as to lean against the otherwise obvious theme of entropy.

Borderline will be Priester’s first solo show, and will include an artist talk where she will talk more about the work presented, as well as older works, and pieces that she is currently working on.
